Ten sentenced of digital abuse directed at Brigitte Macron

A court in Paris has convicted ten people for carrying out the digital intimidation of Brigitte Macron, the wife of France's leader, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced allegations of spreading fabrications regarding her gender and sexuality, in addition to posting defamatory statements about the couple's 24-year age gap.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of a maximum of eight months to the perpetrators. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A longstanding false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a transgender woman has spread widely since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France is concurrent with the Macrons engaging in a defamation lawsuit in the United States of America against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has also voiced comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's identity.
Their legal filing contends that Owens disregarded substantial counter-evidence contradicting her allegations opting to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has regularly repeated these assertions on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 proclaimed that she would bet her whole career on her conviction that Mrs. Macron was born a man.
Brigitte Macron initially encountered her now-husband when she taught at his secondary school.
The two tied the knot in 2007, when the future French president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
