A number of individuals were hurt when a Delta Airlines aircraft originating in LA to Sydney, Australia encountered turbulence on Friday morning.
The flight, numbered 41 "encountered brief turbulence" as it made its approach and landed at the Sydney airport, an airline spokesperson told. Four flight attendants sustained injuries.
The New South Wales Ambulance Service said they treated a total of five people, and took three of them to a medical facility with minor injuries that included pain in the back and migraines. The patients' ages were between their 30s up to the 70s.
It is the newest example of planes being hit by atmospheric disturbance, with aviation specialists indicating that global warming is a major factor.
There were 245 people and 15 crew members on the aircraft, the Delta spokesperson added, clarifying that the plane arrived "safely and normally" at the airport at 6:48 a.m. local time on Friday morning.
Emergency responders reported they received a call just only 180 seconds before the plane touched down, and response teams were waiting on the tarmac.
